Ladies Luxury Dressing Gowns
The Balance Between Seduction and Comfort
One of the most recurring comments we hear has to do with that fine balance between comfort and seduction...
A lady's dressing gown has to be comfortable by creation, first and foremost; that is the whole concept of 'slipping into something comfortable,' no matter if you reach for your gown in the morning or if you slip into it in the evenings. And nothing is more comfortable than the silky feeling of luxuriant fabric protecting your delicate skin, caressing it in sensitive spots that unfortunately do not get enough attention in our day-to-day lives.
Ok, stop smirking, there is no innuendo here, I'm referring to those 'oooh' spots that we forget about but are reminded of when they are washed, when they are caressed, when they are bathed; the ones we can sometimes take for granted: our ankles, for example, the little dips on each side right above the heels; or the back of our knees, a soft spot that simply doesn't receive the caressing that it deserves; or quite simply, la croupe as it is playfully referred to in French, the lower part of your back that sometimes needs just a soft touch to undo its sharp knots. The beauty of your long satin dressing gown is that it remembers all these sacred spots; it reaches out to them and softly caresses them with every movement you make.
A women's dressing gown also has to be seductive by design. Of course, you want to be seductive, quite simply because you are - but perhaps, as it is often the case in our busy lives, your seductiveness has been taken for granted recently. Do not worry, for there is still plenty of time to claim it back!
There is, of course, the radical solution of wearing a negligee to seduce. Some of us want to be blunt at times, so we show it when we need to show it - for, after all, we have our needs too - but it isn't always practical, and it certainly isn't long lasting.
Seduction should not be about a fleeting moment. Seduction should not be a consumable that lasts an hour, if you are lucky. Seduction should be an eternal magnetism that grows crescendo as the relationship matures and strengthens. Seduction is physical, but not only; it can and should also be emotional, perhaps intellectual for some, and aesthetic for all... you are a lady, you have a hint of sophistication, and you'd like to be treated that way, with all the respect you deserve and have worked for through time. A long elegant dressing gown says all of these things! And yet it can also divulge a bit of skin and flesh at that appropriate time...
If you think back to that negligee for a moment, yes, it is efficient and does the trick. (And when it doesn't, boy do we get mad!!) But is it really practical? Most of us still have neighbours... and windows. Some of us have children. And all of us have had that naughty postman-knock at the door at the worst possible time on Saturday morning... and we need to look proper for these impromptu moments, don't we.
A floor length satin dressing gown looks good enough to host in! In fact, some well known people have even been caught wearing them outside, shopping, walking the dog or relaxing in-between photo-shoots.
For other women out there, the reason for choosing a long dressing gown is a bit more self-righteous. I'll give you an example: How often have you treated yourself to a lovely top that you have miraculously fallen upon and absolutely flashed on; ok, it may have been worth a couple hundred dollars, euros or pounds, but it doesn't matter because these heart-throbbing occasions are just too rare. Aren't they? Besides, who cares! You are thinking:
- "Oh, how exciting! And it was on sale, so I've even saved money today!"
And then you bring it home, proudly hang it up in your closet, take yet another good look at it, and that rational side of you cannot help but wonder:
- "Why was it so expensive? There is almost no cloth on it..."
We've all gone through that experience.
When you put on your floor-length satin dressing gown, you feel like you are spoiling yourself. You are reminded every time you slip into it just how much "you're worth it". It has to do with the contrast between the heaviness of the luxurious satin and the lightness of the same silky fabric.
Consider this for moment, especially those of you who sometimes fiddle around with the sowing machine to create that unique garment of your own - you know who you are! - and who therefore spend a bit of time in fabric stores. Did you know it takes approximately 4 meters of fabric to create one ladies dressing gown?
That's a nice 500 grams of luscious satin that you are throwing on your back. And yet when you walk around the house, when you take a stroll in the garden or when you walk around the pool on your honeymoon or sun holiday, the satin dressing gown flies right behind you like the dress of a princess, it lifts all the weight off your shoulders and makes you feel like the star that you are!...
Ladies, if you were unsure about treating yourself to a long floor-length satin dressing gown, and if you've never had a long gown, now is the time to indulge in one! You won't regret it. But do be careful; once you have had one, you'll want a second one in a different colour. And then a third one...
