Be Thankful - Have a Gratitude List
Yes by all means have a gratitude list, I do and go through it every day
Most people have read or at least heard of the book, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I think the basic premise is a fantastic idea, however I believe it leaves out a key ingredient, which without it causes the philosophy to flounder. It's like baking a cake and forgetting to turn on the oven. That key ingredient is, you have to be proactive in getting what you want.
By that I mean go out and drive your life. Yes by all means have a gratitude list, I do and go through it every day, but also go out and put your energy into making it happen.
Think of your life as a bus and you are the driver of that bus. Your hands are on the wheel and your feet are on the pedals. What direction do you think your main focus should be? If you said anything but forward you'd be wrong. Yes you have to look left, right and behind, but primarily you need to be looking forward.
If you're constantly looking back in your life at what has happened to you in the past then you're missing out on the here and now and all the wonderful opportunities that are right in front of you and your bus.
One big thing that is talked about in the book and on the DVD is negativity. If you put out into the Universe "I don't want to have a crappy job" then what do you think you will get, yes that's right, more of the same. If you put out into the Universe "I want a well paying, interesting and local job which uses all my skills" what do you think you might get. Yes that's right too, a job that suits you to a T, that's close to home and you'll be well paid for it.
You also have to start looking in the paper and on line, putting your desire out there. You have to be a participant not an anticipant. Make yourself part of the solution, not part of the problem. If you sit in your lounge room and think, "I want a million dollars, I want a million dollars", it's never going to happen. You actually have to get off your butt & then be proactive in making the million dollars come to you.
How that will look like is as varied and diverse as we, as humans, are. Be creative, be inventive, be adventurous, be individual and above all be thankful and respectful of yourself and others. As I said earlier I have a gratitude list and go through it every night when I get into bed. It covers the people in my private life, the clients who come and see me, the money I bring in as well as the love that surrounds me.
And I don't leave it at just that. Every working day I do something that will drive my business forward. That may be this newsletter your reading now, it may be making up new bookmarks, it may be going to a networking function or it may be visiting local businesses who I believe would benefit in using my services to enhance the product they sell or provide to their clients.
I am proactive in making my life the success it is. Yes people help me along the way and I would struggle without then however the vision and drive comes from me. The passion and belief I have in myself and what I offer my friends, family, clients and referrers comes from being open to what is put in front of me. It also stems from being creative, inventive and adventurous.
Hey if I can do it anyone can. All you need is faith in yourself, a vision or dream and then focus. So go for it!!!
The quote I would like to leave you with today is:
Don't be afraid of death, be afraid of the un-lived life!
