Does Lipstick Scare You?

"So what kind of lipstick do you wear?"

If you know me at all, you know that I don't wear makeup. Or dresses, or panty hose, or even much jewelry. I will always choose comfort over style. Always.

But for several years, I've wanted to have a girlfriend go with me to the lipstick counter and help me pick a color. I'd like my lips to not get so lost on my face.

So, while at a recent Mastermind coaching meeting, I asked my friend Kathi, "So what kind of lipstick do you wear?"

"I don't really like lipstick," she said. "It's too thick. I used to love Carmex, until I found out it had phenol in it." I smiled in happy agreement. "But now I wear lip gloss," she said. She told me how it makes her lips so shiny and the next thing I knew, she was telling me how simple and easy her makeup routine is.

How to Create a Five Year Plan

What are your goals for 5 years, 10 years?

I was never one for having a long term plan. When people asked "what are your goals for 5 years, 10 years?" I'd look at them blankly. I had no idea.

I would tell myself, I live in the moment, I can't possibly know what I'll be doing in 10 years.

And yet, in the deep of my heart, I DID have a vision of what I wanted to be doing, where I wanted to be living. I just never shared it.

Not even with myself.

Because some voice inside of me said that, if I wasn't doing it NOW, then I must be a failure.

Opening to the Unexpected Income - a Prayer for Financial Blessings

Unexpected income - when we open ourselves to new money, that new money will come

So I tried it. I read the prayer, out loud, and envisioned checks arriving in my mailbox. And nothing happened.

A few weeks ago I found the prayer again. I read it out loud again, several times a day. But this time I didn't conjure any particular image of how that money would arrive. I simply opened to the IDEA of unexpected income.

The next day (yes, really!) I got a call from a client, asking if I could come to her house that day, just an hour from the time that she called.

Four Safeguards Against Commitment Burnout

Ignoring the social and spiritual aspects of your life and personal boundaries can lead to problems and commitment burnout. As a busy human being, it can be easy at times to find yourself overwhelmed, over worked, and burned out. If this has ever happened to you, maybe you need to learn a lesson by suffering the consequences of allowing yourself to get stuck in over commitment and overwhelm.

Remember, all humans have the same basic needs of survival such as the need for food, clothing, shelter and , as well as the emotional connections that make us feel human. Sometimes it is these basic needs that also lead to overwhelm, if not careful. In the quest to meet these needs, we forget about the other important personal human boundaries:

How To Increase Your Ability To Keep Your Commitments

The lack of follow-through on commitments is a sure way to lose respect, damage your reputation, and disappoint yourself and others.

Sometimes it can seem impossible to follow through, but if you don't your integrity will be questioned, and you will feel disappointed in yourself for not sticking to your promises.

Below are some ways you can increase your ability to keep your commitment:

1. Don't over schedule

Learn the art of saying no as well as yes. Take a moment when a new opportunity comes your way to look at your schedule, your desire, and whether taking on this new project is realistic for you. Saying no now is preferable and much more honorable, than taking on something you do not have time for, then having to back out later.
