Boulders Beach, about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Cape Town offers quite an unexpected treat; African penguins in their natural habitat. These adorable creatures have made the beach their home, where they not only mate and feed, but can also be seen to bask in the sunshine. Although you cannot get too close there are wooden walkways which let you get a birds’ eye view.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden – An All Year Round Treat

If botany happens to be your thing, then the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden could be the perfect place for you to visit. This is an attraction which is great to visit all year round since, in the summer months, everything is at its most vibrant and the atmosphere of all of the visitors makes it very exciting; whereas between December and March you can enjoy a much more placid experience by taking in the concerts on the lawns as the sun sets.
