Discover The Natural Side Of Cape Town

The natural beauty of Cape Town will take your breath away
The V and A Waterfront might be fast becoming one of the biggest reasons why people are taking holidays to Cape Town, but that’s no excuse for not experiencing all of the stunning scenery that this superb place is so well known for. With so much to take in, and sights that will take your breath away, the area around Cape Town is a wonderful place to explore if you are looking for somewhere that has serene landscapes and is blessed with a stunning natural beauty.
Enjoy Nature From The Horizontal
One of the best ways to experience the natural side of this beautiful place is also one of the simplest. With so many gorgeous white sandy beaches and lovely bays with stupendous backdrops of mountains and beautiful scenery just beckoning you, you could simply lie on them all day in the sunshine. Alternatively, paddling in the tidal pools is not only a great way to cool off, it also provides the opportunity to take in the magnificent views around you.
Tortoises, Baboons And Whales, Oh My!
If you’re looking for more active ways of experiencing nature, then the Cape Point Nature Reserve may be more interesting to you. Still relaxing, and with so much to offer, you could spend all day strolling along the numerous walking trails and taking in every sight. Home to around 250 species of birds and four different species of tortoise, as well as baboons, ostriches and antelope, the reserve is a nature lover’s dream. As you look out across the ocean, keep your eyes peeled for whales and dolphins too, as you can see a number of varieties of each; or see how many of the area’s more than 1,000 species of plant you can spot. With such a huge variety of fauna and flora to cast your eye over, you will feel as though you have stepped into paradise as the natural beauty of Cape Town takes your breath away.
Cocktails On Table Mountain Anyone?
If you want to enjoy the panoramic views from above the city of Cape Town itself, then this can be achieved by standing atop Table Mountain. The easiest way to get here is by taking the cable car, and once you reach the top there are facilities which include a self service restaurant and even a cocktail bar. You can spend as much time as you like taking in the awe inspiring views. Table Mountain is a powerful place to visit that many people regard as being the best attraction of Cape Town, and the view from the top is definitely something that should be experienced.
Penguins in South Africa?
Boulders Beach, about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Cape Town offers quite an unexpected treat; African penguins in their natural habitat. These adorable creatures have made the beach their home, where they not only mate and feed, but can also be seen to bask in the sunshine. Although you cannot get too close there are wooden walkways which let you get a birds’ eye view.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden – An All Year Round Treat
If botany happens to be your thing, then the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden could be the perfect place for you to visit. This is an attraction which is great to visit all year round since, in the summer months, everything is at its most vibrant and the atmosphere of all of the visitors makes it very exciting; whereas between December and March you can enjoy a much more placid experience by taking in the concerts on the lawns as the sun sets. The gardens offer an amazing experience that is not to be missed, and a visit here is a great way to truly appreciate nature during your trip to Cape Town.
